The Daniels Sharpsmart Circle of Safety
1. Smart, safe delivery system
Sharpsmart collector bins arrive pre-assembled, which minimizes:
- Waste from cardboard packaging
- Staff time spent on assembling containers, and most importantly
- Sharps injuries from incorrectly assembled containers.
The Daniels Tracsmart inventory system provides you with real-time stock control, ensuring up-to-date supplies of sharps collectors in both your bulk-store and clinical areas.
2. Sharps collectors where you need them
A wide variety of sizes and handy accessories lets you place your Sharpsmart collectors exactly where you need them. Daniels representatives can advise you on the most appropriate collector locations and conduct thorough staff education sessions.
3. Protecting staff and patients
Daniels' patented, swing-action Safety tray has a wide access to easily accept sharps waste but restricts hand access to the storage container. Around the world, hospitals using the Daniels system have reduced their container-related sharps injuries by up to 87%.
4. Safer when full
When full, the Safety tray swings into an upright position to eliminate overfilling - this reduces the risk of injury from protruding sharps. The side locks that seal full Sharpsmart units are tamper proof, and a leak-proof seal inside the lid removes the risk of spillage during movement around your facility. These locks can only be opened by Daniels' robotic Washsmart processing machines.
5. No risks in transit
Daniels maintains our high standards of safety and service even after we remove the full Sharpsmart units from your premises. Our bulk transport trolleys are purpose-built for the efficient handling of sharps collectors, and operate to United Nations' PG2 certification standard for the transport of dangerous goods.
6. Better for the environment
The Sharpsmart system benefits the environment on many levels. Because Sharpsmart collectors are reusable, hospitals using this system have reduced the plastics component of their medical waste disposal by over 25%. Your medicinal waste is removed and treated in accordance with relevant environmental regulatory requirements. The six-stage Daniels Washsmart process of cleaning empty collectors uses biodegradable detergents and recycles fresh water from its rinse stages for use in washing stages.
7. Quality control checks before the cycle restarts
Before we return any Sharpsmart collectors to healthcare facilities, Daniels conducts rigorous quality control checks to ensure that the units are hygienically clean and fully functional.
Re-usable Sharpsmart collectors save lives and reduce waste.
The safer sharps service that healthcare facilities rely on
The Daniels Circle of Safety is the world's safest and most environmentally-responsible sharps management system. The Circle of Safety gives you a complete door-to-door sharps service that:
- Removes the risk of injury from your collectors
- Protects the environment by reducing plastic waste.
Safer for staff and patients
In 2003, results from the largest international study of sharps containment systems were published in the British Journal of Hospital Infection. These findings showed that the Sharpsmart system achieved an average 33% reduction in total sharps injuries in hospitals where it had been introduced. Container-related sharps injuries were reduced by 87%.
- Container-related sharps injuries: 87%
- Other sharps injuries: 26%
- Total sharps injuries: 33%
Safer for the environment
From our establishment in 1986, Daniels has understood the fundamental importance of environmental safety. Our new Sharpsmart system reduces plastic and cardboard waste by an average of 30%.
- Plastic component of sharps waste: 25%
