The Smart Moves initiative was developed through a collaboration of the Connecticut Hospital Association, the Connecticut Nurses Association (CNA), the Connecticut Association of Not-for-Profit Providers for the Aging (CANPFA), the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities (CAHCF), and the Connecticut Association for Home Care (CAHC).

The goal of this collaboration is to develop a statewide initiative on safe patient handling that improves the health and safety of nurses and other healthcare workers, increases patient safety, and reduces healthcare costs.
